Sies Marjan will no longer bring rainbow hues and tailored pieces to the runway.
Launched in 2016 by Sander Lak, formal director of Dries Van Noten, the young designer earned high praise and admiration from leaders in the industry. He was knwon for his Rainbow Aesthetic. No color was off limit. Hypercolor and shocking hues were at the for-front of the collections. With the exceptional tailoring, vibrant textiles and elegant silhouettes, the brand was made for the Modern Day Woman/Man.
After the financial impact from the 2020 Pandemic, the independent brand has taken action to close the company.
One of the last statements from Lak expressed gratitude for his supporters and collaborators.
“What we have worked on has been a dream come true,” he wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has given their time and talent to Sies Marjan over the years. We have built a singular brand whose legacy is not just in the clothes and collections but within each person who contributed along the way.”
Although their brand showed just a handful of shows, we can always look back at the incredible work from the young designer. Perhaps find inspiration to dress boldly and see the world with more color.
