The exhibition for Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams is a must see in NYC right now.
The exposition features the different timelines in honor of the House of Dior. From Yves Saint Laurent, to John Galliano and Maria Grazia Chiuri: the legacy of Dior lives on as most of the most exceptional fashion houses in the industry.

The House of Dior was formed in the year 1946 by the late designer Christian Dior. Formally known as a fashion illustrator in the 1930s for fashion houses such as Schiaparrlli and The House of Worth, Dior became a known couturier when he was hired by designer, Robert Piguet. In 1938, Dior created a collection under Piguet, titled as “Café Anglais”, which featured the signature full skirt that would be recreated many collections later.
Christian Dior was known for inventing “The New Look” which debuted in 1947 for his Spring Summer collection. The waspy waist and full skirt design was celebrated in the late 40s by Hollywood actresses. The overall design has been generated with new ideas throughout many collections.
The 50s vintage look was essentially designed by Dior himself. The two black dresses as pictured above feature the hour glass shape that showed every fashionable curve of a woman.
In 1950, Christian Dior, is awarded the French Legion of Honor for his contribution to the fashion and textile industry. His career took off and created makeup and shoes in 1953. He began to present collections in America following the 10 Year Anniversary of “The New Look” in 1957.
Christian Dior died of a heart attack at the young age of 52 years old in 1957 and his assistant, Yves Saint Laurent, was appointed creative director for the House of Dior. In January 30 1958, Yves Saint Laurent presents his first collection. It features the innovative Trapèze line, which, with
its ample silhouette, marks a turning point in the history of the House of Dior.
The House of Dior appoints another creative director such as Marc Bohan who presented his collection in 1961, which featured “The Slim Look” was awarded the prestigious Dé d’Or (Golden Thimble) for his Haute Couture Spring–Summer collection in 1983.
In 1989 Gianfranco Ferré became the creative director of Dior. His designs were more over the top and extravagant using exmphasis of heavy drapery, gold and elaborate textiles.
He is awarded the Dé d’Or (Golden Thimble) for his first Haute Couture Autumn–Winter collection.
In 1996, Designer John Galliano is appointed as creative director of Dior. He was known for dressing
Princess Diana for the 1996 Met Ball and was popularized for his extravagant period piece themed shows: From the over the top hair and makeup and styling of the show, Galliano’s legacy is adorned by many fans of the late 1990’s/early 2000’s fashion today.
The green gown from the Fall Winter 1998 collection featured exquiste floral, peacock and grass panels all along the body. To see the craftmanship in person is better than to view in photos.
This Erte inspired beaded gown from the Spring 1998 collection featued geometric payettes, open back cowl and long exagerrated sleeves with beading.
This deconstructed gown from the Fall 2005 collection shows the intricate composition of what goes underneath a gown with a twist. From the tulle lined skirt to the visible horsehair and strucutred drapery: The whimsical look brings limitless ideas and inspires a limitless possibiltiy of what a gown can really be.
One of the last collections from John Galliano featured a brilliant ensemble of florals and orchards. This taffeta gown from the Fall-Winter 2010/2011 Haute Couture collection is truly magnificent and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. From stark black draped bodice to the contrasting bright yellow and orchard print under lining, the abundance of fabric and technicality is truly inspiring.
The current aesthetic of Dior showcases the influence of Christian Dior himself with his adoration for florals and his childhood where he would visit the gardens in Normandy. Christian Dior wass heavily influenced by flowers and designed his silhouettes according to the shape and colors of each blossom.
As the House of Dior evolves under the many visions of multiple creative directors afterwards with Bill Gaytten, Raf Simmons, and now the first appointed female creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri: The legacy of Dior with the superior detail and overall construction in design. From the engineered textiles to the colors and classic silhouettes, Dior has become an everlasting household name in the fashion industry.
The Brooklyn Museum is featuring the exhibition, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams until February 2022. Tickets are selling out quickly and if you haven’t had a chance to see the exhibition, we highly recommend visiting the museum before the showcase ends.

From the Met Gala to New York Fashion Week, we are grateful to see the momentum of Fashion come back into our lives again. Almost a year after our re-opening, we are extremely lucky to have worked with so many wonderful clients.

Here are some looks were worked on from the past week.
We were granted the chance to do alterations for the actress, Rachel Zegler, at the 2021 Met Gala.
She wore a beautiful gold vintage gown by the designer, Dior. The gown featured gold pleated fabric along the neckline and bustle with an classical motif printed in front.
We were very lucky to work on such a beautiful gown for the Met Gala after the hiatus from the prior event due to the pandemic.
We had the opportunity to perform alterations for the Spanish songstress, Rosalia, for the 2021 Met Gala.
Rosalia wore a Rick Owens coat featured floor length fringe made out of leather paired with fringed shorts. The coat itself had a train as long as the staircases at the front entrance. It was truly a work of art to see in person.
We worked on alterations for this beautiful polka dot dress designed by Prabal Gurung for the actress, Kimiko Glenn. The dress featuring drapery along with the sides with dramatic puffed sleeves and pleated skirt. The look was featured for one of the New York Fashion week events.

We are beyond excited to hear about the return of the Met Gala. It used to be scheduled the first Monday in May. The scheduled date for this year will be September 13th and the theme will honor American fashion. The exhibition will feature men & women’s fashion from the 18th century until now. With designers like Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren & Michael Kors to the list a few among the trailblazers in American fashion, we are anticipating an unforgettable spectacle.
As we look forward to the upcoming event, here are some exclusive photos from the past Met Gala events that we helped with alterations.
We had the pleasure of working on this stunning feather gown designed by Alberta Ferreti worn by Janet Mock for the 2019 Met Gala Event, Camp: Notes on Fashion. This gown was even more incredible in person. Our tailors were in awe of how impeccable the beadwork was. From the feathers to the metallic payettes, Janet looked absolutely divine.
We also worked on this a metal payette jacket designed by Alberta Ferretti for the 2019 Met Gala After Party. The jacket looked multi-dimensional since there were multiple panels of different sequin shapes in the design.
For the 2019 Event, we worked on the tuexedo for Jeremy Scott.
The look featured a black tuxedo with an encrusted harness and belt by Moschino.
Maluma wore a bejeweled white tuxedo jacket designed by Moschino on the Pink Carpet for the 2019 Met Gala.
We had the pleasure to work on this purple gown designed by Alberta Ferretti for Princess Beatrice of York. With the bejeweled straps and ruching along the sleeves and front, this gown was truly enigmatic in person.
We altered this Moschino encrusted gown for Stella Maxwell for the 2018 Met Gala Event: Heavenly Bodies. The encrusted beaded gown featured religious icons motifs and mutliple leather belts.
We altered this Moschino bejeweled jacket for Jeremey Scott for the 2018 Met Gala. The intricate and heavy beading definitely makes this look a show stopper.
Coco Rocha wore a leopard gown designed by Emmanuel Ungaro for the 2013 Met Gala Event, Punk: Chaos to Couture.
Allison Williams wears a red Giambattista Valli gown for the 2015 Met Event, China: Through the Looking Glass.
Lena Dunham wears a black floral Giambattista Valli gown for the 2014 Met Event, Charles James: Beyond Fashion.

In order to preserve the original design, our master tailor strategically draped the graphic panels in front to match the look.
